Creating with Values
Secondary Service Learning
Secondary School students had their third (and last) Service Learning experience for this school year.
Middle School students invited children from the different schools that they have visited throughout the year. They invited them to spend a morning at Pan-American School and shared with them games, activities and snacks. We had children from eight public schools playing, laughing and sharing with our students and staff members.
High School Students went out into the community to participate in their service learning activities. The 9th graders visited elderly homes. The 10th graders went to collect trash in Guacalillo Beach, and the 11th graders spent the morning working at the “Banco de Alimentos” where they helped arrange food baskets for people in need.
Our students and staff displayed PAS values such as respect, solidarity and excellence. There were enriching experiences for everyone, and we are looking forward to repeat them in the future!

Values in Action - 5th Grade
The students in 5th Grade have demonstrated and lived the PAS values of solidarity and responsibility throughout their Service Learning project. The students partnered with RET, an organization which works with new immigrants and refugees to Costa Rica. The students took on additional work responsibilities in their homes in exchange for money. Some students were feeling entrepreneurial and started mini-businesses in order to raise funds. From these extra efforts, students raised a substantial amount which was used to purchase backpacks and school supplies for 42 fellow students affiliated with RET. Inspired by acts of kindness, these are students who are showing initiative and continuing to advocate and raise money on behalf of others.
